Journals Library

Getting started

Publications in the NIHR Journals Library are the research findings from the participating NIHR research programmes. Speculative article submissions are not considered.

Authors must adhere to the NIHR Journals Library Information for Authors when preparing their papers for submission. We expect all publications to follow our publications ethics policy, and all authors to be aware of our policies. We advise that you use the editorial criteria checklist as a guide when preparing your manuscript, to ensure that it meets all submission requirements.

Publication types

There are several publication types, however most authors will be expected to follow a threaded publication approach.

Authors of reports for the Programme Grants for Applied Research (PGfAR) Programme should read the PGfAR guidance first.

Authors of Technology Assessment Reports (TARs) should read the TARs guidance first.

In some circumstances it may be more appropriate for your award to be reported on as a single extended research article. However, you should only do so following consultation with the NIHR Journals Library Editorial Office. If you are unsure, please contact

Please submit your paper online. If you have any questions or require assistance, please contact us.
