NIHR Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) Support Funding

The NIHR recognises the important and crucial role played by Clinical Trials Units (CTUs) in helping the design, development and delivery of quality research projects.

CTU Support Funding provides units with flexibility to increase their capacity to support NIHR funded projects and research funding applications. The expected result of this funding is an increase in the number of high-quality research applications submitted to NIHR programmes and supported projects.

Funding is available to support UKCRC registered CTUs in England undertaking NIHR trials and other evaluation studies.

NIHR CTU Support Funding launched in 2008. Since then there have been a number of funding rounds, and over 25 units in England currently receive funding on a rolling contract basis.
