Public Health Research
Public Health Research (PHR) was launched in 2013 and is indexed by NHS Evidence, Europe PMC, NCBI Bookshelf and the CRD Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness (DARE).
The research is multi-disciplinary and broad, covering a range of interventions that improve public health.
Reports are published in Public Health Research if
- they have resulted from work for the NIHR Public Health Research (PHR) Programme, and
- they are of a sufficiently high scientific quality as assessed by the external reviewers and journal editors.
PHR funds research to evaluate non-NHS interventions intended to improve the health of the public and reduce inequalities in health. Most of these interventions are delivered by local government or third sector organisations. View PHR research projects.
The programme will fund both primary research and evidence synthesis; precise methods will need to be appropriate to the question being asked and the feasibility of the research. For further information on the PHR Programme and its remit, please visit the programme pages on the NIHR Evaluation, Trials and Studies (NETS) website.
