The study demonstrated the existence of barriers to optimal asthma management in children of South Asian origin across all levels, and that any intervention should address these levels in order to be effective. The study found that minority ethnic communities can be successfully engaged in the development of interventions, using community-focused and culturally sensitive methods. The ACT on Asthma programme was developed following the identification by families of 11 key problems during collaborative workshops; future research should assess the effectiveness of this progamme
